Primary Purpose:
Responsible for daily supervision of a team of Accounting Operations professionals. Responsible for performing intermediate-level accounting operations duties related to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, Travel and Corporate Card Programs and Intercompany Settlements. Responsible for financial analysis and reporting related to in-scope activities. Serves as technical expert and advisor to internal and external clients related systems, processes, and issue resolution. Other responsibilities include special projects as assigned. Provides resolution of intermediate level issues. Works under minimal supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:Answers moderate to complex invoicing questions related to invoice status, payment status, cost recognition, legal entity, currency, and internal controls related to Procure to Pay process.
Monitors invoice activity and performs resource allocation accordingly based upon data analysis to meet Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Leads efforts to ensure accurate and effective invoice validation process related to invoice amount, legal entity, supplier, purchase order, payment terms, and payment method.
Ensures effective control environment for supplier maintenance activities. This includes reviewing supplier data such as W-9s, W-8, Foreign Payee Tax Declarations, banking details such as; ACH, Wire, Swift, IBAN, payment terms, executed contractual documentation, Due Diligence results for OFAC/denied party screenings, legal entity assignment, payment terms, and invoice currency assignment.
Ensures payment processes are performed timely, accurately, and in compliance with Black & Veatch internal control standards. Payments may include but are not limited to supplier payments, expense report reimbursements, intercompany settlements, check requests, and manually processed checks.
Perform or ensure timely completion of the Accounts Payable month end close process.
Accounts Receivable: Ensures timely and accurate cash application is performed via Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and standard cash application processes.
Research and resolve discrepancies in auto-applied cash to outstanding receivables.
Ensure unapplied cash balances are resolved in a timely manner.
Performs intercompany billing processes in multiple currencies for established intercompany relationships between Black & Veatch legal entities.
Review and perform the credit reference process related to customer's payment timeliness.
Review and perform the audit confirmation process of customer's outstanding receivable balance.
Perform or ensure timely completion of the Accounts Receivable month end close process.
Record invoice adjustments for early payment discounts and other invoice adjustments as needed.
Project Management: Assists with assigned Accounting Operations project management responsibilities.
Reconciliation: Reconcile activity related to Accounting Operations processes such as sub-ledger to ledger variances for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, unallocated line distributions, or system exceptions.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:Report Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency of Accounting Operations processes and use data analysis to identify and resolve root causes of exceptions.
Compliance:Review and implement necessary actions to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Supervisory and Resource Management Responsibilities
Supervises work of others. Responsible for monitoring workload and providing day to day guidance for assigned staff. Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, training, learning and development, and corrective actions.
Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively developed, implemented, and communicated for workgroup. Ensures adherence to corporate and division programs. Creates / maintains up-to-date training materials for Accounting Operations processes. Presents training opportunities for team members.
Identifies and implements improvement opportunities which will add value to the organization. Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (in Accounting or Finance, preferred) or related experience. Typically 4+ years related experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Supervisory experience preferred.
