Contract with potential to convert to permanent. The OSP/ISP Design/Field Engineering Technician functions in a technician capacity. Performs field ride out, data collection, and design of aerial, underground, and buried fiber optic facilities. This position will be based in Irvine, CA requires frequent travel around the Irvine, CA and S. California area and occasionally other metro areas. Under close supervision, performs basic functions requiring technical knowledge utilizing electronic applications, processes, standards and document control processes/procedures for the purpose of creating or modifying deliverable. Evaluates methods used to accomplish the drafting and/or design activities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs field ride out, data collection, and design of aerial, underground, and buried fiber optic facilities.
This job is initially a contract position with the option to convert to permanent; will be based in the Irvine, CA office and requires intermittent travel (30-70%) around the surrounding metro areas and some could be further outside the metro. Limited overnight travel expected. Contractor will follow B&V travel policy at all times.
Ideal candidates will be experienced in OSP design of copper and fiber optic facilities, in aerial, underground, and buried applications.
Technical knowledge and understanding of right of way and easements.
General understanding of aerial construction, including span lengths, pole loading, anchoring, guying, and attachment heights; as well as familiarity with joint use regulations are all an added plus.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
Continues developing knowledge and complies with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Contributes to the field data collection and design of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope. Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Coordinates documents, reviews plans, uploads documents into data bases
Seeks out supervisor or project leadership to share information and gain guidance with respect to details of design and interdisciplinary coordination. Coordinates with others as assigned by supervisor or project leadership.
Update schedules, updates forecasts, prints plans, and submits plans.
Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Diploma or Certificate preferred. Typically a minimum of 1 year related work experience.
Individual must be available to mobilize when scheduled and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle report.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc…)
Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions
Must be able to stand, bend, squat, walk, move, lift, carry… equipment (>20lb) for the duration of the work day
Ideal candidates will have an interest in OSP design of copper and fiber optic facilities, in aerial, underground and buried applications. Technical knowledge and understanding of right of way and easements is a plus.
OSP/ISP or Fiber design. If not, then utility design.
Previous experience with GIS, CAD, pole analysis software is a plus
Software's used in role: Aramis, Opti, 3GIS, Weaver, OCalc, GIS, AutoCAD
