Primary Purpose:
Functions in a mid level engineer capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Civil Engineer working in the Overhead Transmission line division of the Energy-Power Delivery group. Primary responsibilities include: perform overhead transmission line design varying from 69 kV to 345 kV for utilities like Eversource, National Grid, etc. using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS -Tower, MFAD, L-Pile, SAG10, and other applications; work on Power Delivery projects as a Transmission Line Engineer; execute detailed design of medium to high voltage transmission lines; scope and estimate projects, write specifications, and evaluate subcontractor proposals; provide technical correctness of designs and the ability to correctly interpret Black & Veatch standards, client standards, and industry standards; coordinate design efforts with other project personnel in the same or other departments; design and analyze steel reinforced concrete caisson foundations and tubular steel, lattice tower, and wood structures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related, plus two years related experience; or in the alternative, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, plus 3 years related experience. Experience must include at least two years’ experience working with utility companies in the power delivery section, including experience in the design, fabrication, and optimization of tubular steel pole structures as well as experience with PLS-Pole, PLS-CADD, or comparable programs. Experience must include overhead transmission line design, working with client and industry standards for design and optimization of steel structures. Must have experience utilizing advanced structural analysis and engineering cost analysis. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
