Provide support through the development and performance of field studies, and geotechnical assessments for domestic or international projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination of the overall effort associated with large projects or assignments
Manages available personnel resources to meet project schedules
Prepares periodic progress reports for client review
Maintains business relationship with client and develops new business with existing or new clients
Prepares and provides expert testimony
Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
Utilizes expertise from the broad field of geotechnics including subsurface investigation, soil sampling, rock coring,
seismic and borehole interpretations and installation of geotechnical instrumentation in performance of work activities.
Analyze and evaluate geotechnical instrumentation data.
Evaluate the performance of the dam based on the existing
information and knowledge of the subsurface characteristics. Responsible for proper interpretation of data and
decisions regarding issues.
Provide geological technical direction and support to engineers and support personnel.
Duties include leading the project team, establishing and accomplishing scope, monitoring all phases of project performance, approving project changes within approved limits, and conducting lessons learned reviews at project completion.
Performs, directs, or reviews studies or design work on dams and appurtenant works.
Develops design guides and criteria, as required.
Provides support during dam safety emergencies and emergency preparedness drills.
Minimum of 3 years’ of experience performing duties similar to those of a Geologist 4. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in geology or related engineering field with emphasis in geotechnics from an accredited school. An
advanced degree is desirable.
A minimum of ten years as a geologist/engineer with a minimum of five years in the dam engineering field.
A license as a professional geologist or professional engineer is a plus but not required.
Has a good understanding of the Earth’s history and the processes that have formed it, including the
behavior of rocks, magnetic principles, rock formations, groundwater, the ocean floor, fossils, etc.
investigation of the composition, structure, and history of the Earth’s crust through the collection, examination,
measurement, and classification of soils, minerals, rocks, and fossil remains and how these factors can affect the various components of a dam.
Experienced in planning
detailed field investigations.
Experience with 3D modeling, groundwater modeling and other GIS softwares
Serve as project engineer for assigned projects.
