The Telecom Finance team has an opening for an Assistant Director of Finance (FIN 007) effective immediately in our Overland Park, KS office. Serves as a key business advisor and primary day-to-day finance interface for Telecom’s Private Networks, Transformative Technologies, and Connected Communities business lines. Provides business line management with operating and financial data enabling them to meet targets and goals. Directs, leads and develops Finance personnel. Works under broad direction.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversight of project accounting for assigned business lines, including providing assistance and guidance to project management, project controls, and senior management. Oversees monthly project reporting, identifying impacts and variances to forecasts and budgets ensuring project financials are accurate and in compliance with GAAP. Participates in monthly/quarterly project reviews to ensure project estimates are accurate.
Demonstrates professional skepticism and proactively provides risk management and cash management expertise.
Provides ad hoc financial research, analysis and solutions to primary internal clients.
Leads, summarizes, reviews and provides recommendations based on project financial results; evaluates data with reference to company and division objectives.
Liaises with corporate Tax & Treasury to mitigate finance risks on projects.
Supports proposal teams with financial analysis and deriving prices
Provides direction to assigned group. Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development for direct reports and provides direction regarding career planning for assigned group.
Champions continuous improvement efforts – looks at best practices and implements consistent policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience. Typically 12+ years related experience; supervisory experience required. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) preferred.
Black & Veatch experience preferred.
Master Business Administration (MBA) or MS in Accounting or Chartered Accountant preferred.
