The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry. Through a unique combination of experience, expert resources and innovative solutions, Black & Veatch supports the entire range of both legacy and emerging technologies used in today’s wireless and wireline networks, voice, video, Internet and data systems and utility automation.
Functions in a supervisory management role or as a technical specialist. Independently develops and applies advanced system engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. May supervise design technology staff on projects of medium to high complexity, or serve as a technical specialist providing expert knowledge and expertise.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the Network Services Group and carry out limited network design (as time permits). Perform quality control and advise on execution strategies, to maximize efficiency. Developing strategies to influence business line decisions, including cyber security. Growing service offerings to new business lines within B&V. Review RFPs.
Must be able to grow the group and the group’s capabilities via new hires and training. Should be cognizant of industry trends and anticipate changes so that the group’s skills and personnel can provide the services required in a new market environment. Must be able to evaluate personnel to determine who needs what training/certifications, so that the group’s capabilities/skills are increasing. Must be able to keep abreast of project execution and schedules to ensure that the group’s overall productivity/chargeability remains high. Must have managerial courage without being combative. Must be proactive in locating resources, prioritizing work for the staff and have the flexibility to shift resources when required by circumstances (which frequently happens).
Typically a minimum of 8 plus years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities.
Must be an excellent communicator (both written and verbal). Must understand network design and have experience working on large-scale project planning teams with a variety of technology experience. Must have managerial courage and be proactive, entrepreneurial and able to motivate others. Be able to articulate value proposition of B&V to highly-sought network architects.
Certifications: CISM, CISSP, CCIE, CCNP, PMP, certified Cyber Security Manager
