The successful candidate will provide market expertise, price forecasting, renewable integration evaluation, and integrated resource and power supply planning for utility and non-utility clients in the California power markets... with Plexos modeling experience preferred.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will report to the planning solution team within the advisory and planning consulting group. The candidate will manage consulting engagements, maintain client contacts, perform and/or direct power production cost modeling, and provide market intelligence with respect to regulations, operating rules, and market design within the State of California, CAISO, and WECC regions.

We seek a manager-level professional to join more than 300 consultants, regulatory policy advisors, technology specialists, and internationally respected subject matter experts. The consulting practice offers a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach that integrates strategic, operations, financial and process-based advisory services to private and investor-owned energy companies, municipalities, and government agencies. The consulting practice, as a whole, provides services in the world wide power generation, electric, oil & gas, renewable and water market segments.
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Candidates should have 8 plus years consulting and power supply planning experience within California. Knowledge and experience with: power production modeling, regional regulations and policies, market design, market operating rules, financial analysis and economic models is desired, as well as, a general understanding of electric power commercial and regulatory practices. Comfort dealing with power generation asset owners, asset/portfolio managers, utility management, technology experts and other consultants is essential. Individual will be working with an internal multi-discipline team of engineers, consultants, and financial analysts. Experience with or exposure to large commercial banks, private equity and energy developers during financing transactions is a plus.
Individual should have experience and qualifications that are usually gained through experience as a consultant, engineer or plant engineer. An engineering degree, economics degree, or related scientific degree is preferred. Experience with one or more power production modeling platforms, such as Plexos or ProMod, is desired.
