Job Summary
This position will function as a lead Electrical Engineer role within the Commercial & Connectivity Business at Black & Veatch and will focus on the electrical design for Data Centre projects in accordance with best practice and recognised design standards/codes of practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Act of Point of contact with the UK team for interaction with other international B&V teams.
- Interface management with UK electrical leads to develop compatible engineering solutions for projects.
- Input to the delivery of data centres project developments in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements.
- Regularly and accurately reporting the status of projects to management.
- Be a key interface and manage the relationship with clients and contractors.
- Add value, avoid/resolve issues, mitigate risks and manage project’s finances and contracts by applying robust project management practices and experience from previous projects.
- Participation to site visits and client meetings.
- Disseminate knowledge and experiences to other team members and supporting the development of the team and team members.

Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Professional recognition qualification such as Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or similar institute/institution.
- 5 years of work experience in facility electrical design engineering/ data centre electrical design.
Experience in the undertaking of assignments in some or all the following areas is desirable:
- Power systems studies.
- Grid connection studies and interface with TSO or DNO to obtain a connection agreement.
- Wider European electrical or power systems, or Grid Code knowledge.
- Knowledge and prior experience in adhering to CDM regulations on projects.
- Preparation of tender documentation to support procurement activities including Invitation of Tender, Employer’s Requirements, Bills of Qualities.
- Electrical infrastructure for state-of-the-art Data Centre electrical components.
- Electrical facility specification and layout for Data Centres.
- Cable sizing calculations and analysis.
- Support to EIA/consenting submission including noise assessment, EMF assessment.
- Input to project due diligence and owners engineer assignments.
- Site inspections during construction and commissioning.
- Reviewing commissioning and plant acceptance tests.
- Working towards / near completion of a professional recognition qualification such as Chartered Engineer.
- Demonstrable track record of electrical power systems design including outline design, FEED, detailed design, specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of electrical plant and equipment for Data Centre developments.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Typical office environment: Sitting/standing, computer usage for extended periods of time. Speaking, Listening. Ability to utilize audio/video conferencing software for internal/external communication purposes.
Typical project/construction site setting: adhering to safety protocols, exposure to noise, active construction and other job site hazards.
May require travel to client/project sites. May require ability to rent/drive a vehicle requiring UK Driver's licence.
