Job Summary
  • The Principal Consultant, Customer Offerings is an integral member of our Growth & Performance Offering team which is responsible for the expansion of our business in this space, managing existing and new consulting offerings that assist utilities in better serving their customers.  
  • Identify, sell and contribute to the creation of innovative offerings and supporting solutions to address the customer service needs of utilities and their commercial and Industrial clients.
  • Utilizes deep industry knowledge and expertise to identify challenges within the market and help contribute to an offering strategy and value proposition to respond to these challenges.
  • Support the Black & Veatch Management Consulting Industry teams as well as collaborating with other B&V organizations in the pursuit of key business opportunities as needed.
  • Serving in an executive oversight role, provide guidance and direction to the project delivery team for work you helped sell. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as pursuit lead, working with our Industry Sales team, including drafting major components of RFP and RFI responses and/or review and validate other sections written by others to finalize the response
  • Serves as an engagement lead for implementation projects, responsible for maintaining the client relationship and driving the project to meet deliverables and ensure client satisfaction
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the strategic direction of select customer service sub-offerings
  • Manages employees on pursuits and/or engagements, providing input for performance management and compensation
  • Secures commitment and participation from the client’s senior management by leveraging relationships
  • Delivers client solutions aligned with defined value proposition across multiple areas of a client’s businesses
  • Searches for new consulting opportunities with existing or new clients
Management Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years of consulting experience within the Utilities industry
  • 5 years of experience managing significant engagements
  • 5 years of experience in a leading role pursuing engagements in consulting services, system integration services, and/or products to the Utilities market to new and established clients
  • Ability to travel up to 75%

Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Black & Veatch Management Consulting (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).  All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA
  • 5 years in a lead role identifying/qualifying/solutioning opportunities at varying levels of scale 
  • 10 years of experience working for large consulting firm supporting utilities
  • 5 years of experience delivering projects that include:
  • CIS integration
  • Pre-CIS implementation projects that include vendor selection, business case development, and/or business process review
  • Key account management improvement projects
  • Enablement projects associated with AMI data, such as implementing new rates; EV Charging programs; Green Rate programs; Peak Reward programs and PrePay programs
  • Skilled in constructing a deal win strategy, financial structure, and negotiate multi-year, Statements of Work including terms, risk mitigation, pricing, and payment terms
  • Experience building a successful and sustainable consulting practice
  • Excellent communication presentation, and social engineering skills (written, verbal)
Certifications
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.

US-based, working virtual and remote with ability to travel up to 4 days per week and approximately 75% in total.
