Job Summary

Black & Veatch EDS team is seeking for a BESS Engineer position to work on emerging green technologies in the Energy storage domain with knowledge of Energy storage applications and system modelling. The candidate will apply his skills in development of solutions for the ESS applications in project development perspective. This position requires working with teams across the globe in multiple projects. A valuable candidate should posses the following qualities.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage BESS application tool and optimization of energy model in combination with BESS/PV Solar/Wind and load, with RE Integration and decarbonization profiles.
Preparation of technical specifications for Battery/PCS/EMS & SCADA.
Perform system sizing, develop energy flow chart, life cycle estimation with Techno-economic /LCOE models.
Assessment of case study, application and perform due diligence and engineering activities.
Assist in preparation of AC/DC SLD, System protection schemes, FAT and Test plan reports.
Work with inter disciplinary teams (Civil/mechanical/etc..) for complete project development activities.

Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Masters/bachelors in Electrical/Electronics/Power Engineering
Industry relevant experience in Renewables & Energy storage
Knowledge of Electro-chemical and thermal aspects of BESS, with solution level know how on other ESS technologies (Flow battery/CAES and other LDES)
Working knowledge of Solar PV, Inverters, Energy storage.
Experience on Battery/Inverter sizing and modeling in combination with RE (PV+Wind) or other sources of generation
Knowledge of Energy storage application use case and system design for the application requirements.
Working experience of Grid connected and microgrid projects
Experience in optimization – Linear programming and proficiency in Phython and MS Excel VB macro automation
Experience in System sizing in HOMER/Fractel or any other battery system sizing tools
Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink will be advantage
Should be familiar with ESS Standards and compliances

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 3 years related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
