Job Summary

Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expands knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility as Lead HSE Engineer for the project and capable of producing deliverables with minimum assistance / supervision.
  • Ensure Project management, production of project deliverables on time and to budget. Preparation of proposals, man hour estimates.
  • Identify HSE Design requirements for a given project, planning and implementation of associated activities.
  • Prepare HSE Plan / Loss Prevention Philosophy document for the project(s). 
  • Scope, lead and follow up HAZID, HAZOP and SIL reviews.
  • Be well familiar with OISD / IS / NFPA / API / IEC & other safety standards.
  • Prepare Hazardous Area Schedules and layouts, Fire and gas detection equipment – philosophy and layout and specification, Loss prevention deliverables – fire water demand, hydraulic calculation, ring main sizing and layouts, firefighting equipment specifications, Gas based fire suppression system and other deliverables.
  • Be Proficient in interdisciplinary information transfer.
  • Prepare, manage and coordinate, both Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Assessments including application of dispersion, fire and / or explosion models, Safety Cases, risk ranking, EERA, F&G mapping study, Noise study,
  • Report the project status and/or key issues to management regularly and in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration. Additional professional registration or licensure may be needed when practicing or on assignment in a different country. Exceptions may be approved by division management on a case by case basis.
