The Opportunity

This role will be a field-based HR Associate supporting site HR Generalist for our craft construction employee population. This role will be supporting mid to large scale construction projects. The primary responsibility of the HR Associate is to collect and review HR paperwork and Licensing/certifications to send to the home office support center. Adheres to all federal, state, and local laws governing employment process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with recruiting team to verify craft orientation counts and onboarding completion. 
  • Conducting orientations and accurately processing company, state, and federal new hire, rehire, and transfer paperwork. 
  • Responsible for craft performance management paperwork tracking at the project level. 
  • Cultivates a partnering and trusting relationship with management and craft professionals, while maintaining an HR perspective.  
  • Engages productively and proactively in business discussions.  
  • May assist with employment related investigations,  
  • Tracking of employee disciplinary actions 
  • Coordinating with the Craft Training department on Craft Apprenticeship programs. 
  • May assist in coordinating and scheduling special activities such as reduction-in-force, benefits open enrollment, drug testing or sitecampus events. 
  • General administrative duties such as assisting employees with accessing payroll information or routine EAP support
  • Community Involvement/Outreach 
  • Assist with monitoring HR compliance programs onsite. 
  • May be responsible for generating reports, or assigned special projects as required. 
  • Perform other all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous HR experience 
  • 2+ Years of Administrative experience 
  • 2+ years field-based construction experience. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish/Haitian Creole/English) highly desired. 
  • Strong skills using Microsoft’s suite of products
  • Good communication skills 
  • Ability to travel and work on construction sites in the United States. 
  • Basic knowledge HR policies and procedures 
  • Basic knowledge of hiring policies and procedures 
  • Basic organizational skills 
  • Basic multi-tasking skills 
  • Ability to work project schedule (long hours and some weekends) 

Minimum Qualifications

  • criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Typical construction site environment:   
  • May be subject to working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.  
  • Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions  
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.  
  • Work around hazardous equipment. 
  • Typical office environment. 
  • This position is considered a safety sensitive position.  

Physical Demands: 

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.  
  • Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas. 
  • See and hear naturally or with correction.    
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.  
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.  
  • Requires repetitive movement.  
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift
