Duties

Lead a team of engineers and technicians to prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects.  Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.  Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.  Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.  Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.  Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems.  Review lower-level engineering work or assignments.  Lead production teams.  Coordinate multiple discipline activity.  Serve as the responsible charge for projects.  Establish work plan to be applied to a given project.  Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on complex projects.  Define project schedules for single discipline or responsible for multiple disciplines.  Determine identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.  Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects.  Focus on client's current needs and situations.  Offer other services to the client.  Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.  Proactively provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies.   Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards.  Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.  Serve as a technical specialist and demonstrate knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area.  Support multiple projects on very complex technical challenges.  Actively advance knowledge management of the enterprise and provide mentoring.  As a subject matter expert, demonstrate additional expertise in a technical area, participate in professional societies by presenting papers, participate on technical committees, and assist with code/standard authoring.  Strive for external recognition in the industry as an expert which enhances the Company brand.  May supervise the work of lower-level electrical and mechanical engineers and other technical professionals (engineering technician, etc.).  No formal hire or fire authority.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus at least 11 years of related experience. PE is Required.  Related experience must include managing project budgets, schedules and technical outputs of a multi-discipline engineering team on projects of medium to high complexity.  Must have experience working on engineering, procurement, and construction projects, as well as the testing and commissioning of those projects.  Must have experience with business development and working on proposals for new client footprints. Must have experience interfacing directly with the client on technical aspects of the project, including change management related to the project scope and commercial management.  Requires experience identifying key client drivers on projects and communicating to the project team, as well as developing approaches to accommodate these concerns in the work.  Must have experience preparing a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple projects, including performing research and developing recommendations for equipment and/or material selection; focuses on quality and following quality requirements and guidelines.  Must have experience overseeing the collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work and reviewing lower level engineering work, providing guidance and mentorship.  Must have experience with power system studies and grounding studies.  Must have experience utilizing SKM, ETAP, or other similar power simulation software to perform testing and analysis of system design.  Must have experience working as an electrical engineer within the standards established in the NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI codes and standards.  Telecommuting is permissible within a reasonable commuting distance from the Atlanta, Georgia Black and Veatch office.  Regional travel may be required up to 15% of the time.  Must be able to communicate effectively in the company interest. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
