Job Summary

Under general supervision, supports engineering teams by performing technical tasks that require an intermediate understanding of engineering principles and practices. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. May begin to provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineering technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Prepares engineering deliverables such as drawings and 3D model under general supervision using AutoCAD, Bentley and other relevant software based on variety of design input.
Learn and apply fundamental engineering principles and established design practices to develop or modify less complex to moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
Begins to proactively Apply knowledge of applicable standards, systems, document control requirements, departmental guidelines, and relevant codes in compliance with Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
Ensure all deliverables comply with project-specific codes, standards, and technical requirements.
Performself-checks and proactively apply the Black & Veatch Quality Program to assigned deliverables.
Work more independently while coordinating with engineers and other designers to interpret design concepts and support drawing revisions as required.
Coordinates with other design group involved on the same project to minimize interference or error and to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
Provide support for field activities when required.

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering design discipline.
5+ years of experience as an Electrical Design Technician or in a related role.
Proficient in AutoCAD or other relevant design software.
Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe/Bluebeam.
Able to communicate effectively in English both speaking and writing.
Strong communication skills and professional presence for internal and external client interactions.
Willing and able to handle multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines while working independently with minimal supervision.
If familiar with Bentley, MicroStation and Navisworks will be an advantage.
Basic understanding of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
Basic knowledge of EPC Infrastructure (Power Plant, Substation, Utilities, Renewable etc.) or Oil &GAS.
Willing and able to travel or work at construction sites as required. #LI-RK1

Minimum Qualifications

Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
