Job Summary

Functions in an engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and may perform assignments of a design nature by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may provide direction to other engineering professionals

Key Responsibilities

Prepare design drawings, including pipe routing drawings, P&ID’s and pipe support drawings.
Performs piping design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records in Power Plant
Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables
Conduct self-checks of created drawings, sketches, and related data to proactively identify factors that may negatively affect final product.
Begins to start working independently of engineers but confer with engineers and other designers for design concept interpretation. Support engineers with any changes to drawings

Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes follow Black and Veatch’s policies and procedures.
Review project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.

Demonstrates personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project. Proactively applies Black and Veatch Quality Program to deliverables.

Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
May support field activities.
Focuses on the needs of internal clients while utilizing an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or related engineering fields

Minimum of 1 year related work experience on Piping Design
Experience in Pipe Routing for Power Plant projects or related fields.
Minimum 1 year of 3D design experience in a technical software platform such as SmartPlant 3D, AVEVA E3D or AutoCAD Plant3D, if familiar with Bentley Tools, Open Plant Modeler, MicroStation, AutoCAD and Navisworks will be an advantage.
Experience in Microsoft Suite, Adobe/Bluebeam, and Document Control Systems.
Good Command in English both speaking and writing
Good communication skills and personal presence for internal and external client interactions
Willingness to travel and multi-task to meet tight timelines while working independently with minimal supervision
Basic understanding of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
Basic knowledge of EPC Infrastructure (Power Plant, Utilities, Renewable etc.) or Oil GAS.
Willing and able to travel or work at construction sites as required.#LI-RK1

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
