Job Summary

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Hydro Project Manager in our Hydropower & Hydraulic Structures Central Region. 

Black & Veatch is a worldwide leader in green power including the hydropower and hydraulic structures arenas and is looking for an experienced and dynamic Leader.  This position is a great opportunity for an individual to play a key role in the development and execution of our hydro business in the central US.  Central US for the B&V H&HS group spans from the Ohio River and Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate with other central region PMs to prepare annual business plan for region and take responsibility for its implementation
  • Plan and pursuit of new Hydro clients and projects, develop and pursue hydraulic structure and hydropower engineering and EPC work, nurture existing client relationships and develop new clientele and partners in those areas, lead preparation of proposals and serve as Project Manager of resulting work
  • Organize and manage engineering and EPC teams set up to work on hydraulic structures and hydropower projects
  • Negotiate contract commercial terms, manage project budgets, costs, receivables, and contract/legal issues
  • Apply knowledge of policies and regulations to project scope
  • Uses B&V project management phases & methodology including, project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout to direct work.
  • Manage changes and risk on scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety based on available resources and client requirements
  • Manage design, procurement, construction, and warranty plan for projects from inception to project closeout
  • Pursue, develop and execute hydropower licensing and relicensing projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 + years of experience working on hydraulic structures and hydropower projects
  • Should have hydraulic structure or hydropower engineering design experience
  • Business development and project management experience interfacing with clients
  • Knowledge of the Hydro market in the Central US (clients, projects, competition, etc.)
  • Individuals with Water, Power Generation, or similar experience would be considered


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of science degree.
