The Opportunity
The Project Manager for O&M and Retrofit will function in a mid-level project manager capacity. You will own multiple small EPC and services projects encompassing O&M and retrofit in the Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance group. There is also potential to own projects in other areas such as sustainable generation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide technical support for client projects with design review services, design engineering services, and development engineering support.
- Support client projects with feasibility studies, energy production estimates, and cost estimates, and testing & commissioning.
- Provide proposal support for client projects with technical specification preparation, RFP support, and bid evaluation support.
- Oversee EPC contractors for client projects.
Please note: This role has 25% to 50% travel to project and client sites. When not travelling, this role will be hybrid: 2 days per week remote, 3 days per week in-office out of our Calgary, Alberta office.

Key Responsibilities
- Actively promote Black and Veatch's safety culture.
- Respond to RFPs and prepare proposals for services work.
- Lead project teams in conceptual design and procurement phases of combined cycle, simple cycle, coal fired units, and plant expansion projects.
- Interface between the client, external stakeholders, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Work in both a corporate and field environment.
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience including simple cycle, combined cycle, and plant expansion.
- Experience in multiple phases of project execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant degree.
- PE, P.Eng or equivalent professional license.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Work Environment/Schedule
Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
