Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering.
The Survey Party Chief will a single survey crew in the field, responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and documentation of that crew’s work. Serve as the primary on-site survey point of contact for the foremen and superintendents in the work area.

Key Responsibilities
· Set up and operate GNSS, robotic total stations, and levels (or direct Instrument Operator in their use).
· Verify control daily using redundant checks (angles, distances, and/or level ties) before performing layout.
· Perform stakeout for grids, foundations, anchor bolts, columns, embedded steel, utilities (horizontal and vertical), roads, slabs, and other site features.
· Conduct pre-pour and pre-backfill checks with proper documentation, including as-built elevations and offsets where required.
· Interpret drawings and models, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues to the Project Survey Manager or Lead Party Chief.
· Maintain clear, accurate, and legible field notes, sketches, and stake markings.
· Train and mentor Instrument Operators, Rodmen, and Solar Layout Technicians assigned to the crew.
· Promote and enforce survey-specific safety practices in the field.

Minimum Qualifications
At least 5 years of experience working in the construction field with layout or survey responsibilities, with some supervision experience. Must have working knowledge of using mathematics to solve problems, verify mathematical calculations, gather physical survey data, document technical design details, check/troubleshoot discrepancies, analyze physical, survey, or geographic data, survey land to measure or determine features, create maps, determine operational criteria or specifications, PDF using Bluebeam, coordinate activities with suppliers, contractors, clients, or other departments or disciplines, direct surveying activities, train personnel on proper operational procedures, calculate geographic positions from survey data. Must be able to use tape measure and calculate decimals of a foot.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

- Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
- Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Work around hazardous equipment.
