Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Planning Leader based in our North Carolina market area.

Our U.S. planning & asset management business has seen consistent growth driven by our clients’ needs to address challenges stemming from population growth, aging infrastructure, system reliability and resilience concerns, the need to improve operational efficiency, water quality regulations, and the lack of effective tools to leverage massive amounts of data and help guide decision making. This leadership position represents a strategic business opportunity for Black & Veatch’s Distribution & Collection System Planning team to help the company grow its market share by providing world-class water & wastewater infrastructure planning & asset management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical solutions and differentiation for Black & Veatch and to our clients focused on water distribution and wastewater collection systems
  • ·Evaluation of water and wastewater system’s capacity, condition, resilience, operating efficiency, and water quality
  • Analysis and projections of water demands and wastewater flows
  • Use of risk-based assessments to develop and prioritize capital improvement programs
  • Integration of condition assessment and asset management data into system master planning and to directly support replacement & renewal planning
  • Use of cutting-edge hydraulic modeling, GIS, asset management, and data visualization software to help solve client issues
  • Provide project execution and technical leadership support for our planning & asset management projects as well as our water and wastewater program projects
  • Assist Client Directors and Project Managers in engaging clients as part of Black & Veatch’s Utility Management Solutions initiative to partner with utilities in advancing their management organization, processes, and technologies
  • Provide technical leadership to support and lead marketing and business development in our North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina market areas and beyond
  • Work closely with Client Directors and Project Managers to leverage existing and build new relationships with clients and decision makers in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, and beyond
  • Support and lead pursuit, proposal, and project interview activities

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with technical and thought leadership surrounding water and wastewater infrastructure systems

· Experience in a client-facing role

· 10+ years of infrastructure assessment experience including hydraulic modeling, master planning, condition assessment, asset management, and data analysis

· Experience leading technical tasks and project teams and executing water distribution and wastewater collection system studies and assessments that involve system operations modeling, optimization techniques, risk & resiliency evaluations, capital and life-cycle cost analyses, CIP prioritization

· Proficient with data analyses, analytics, and visualization

· Proficient with report writing and PowerPoint presentations

· Experience in developing proposals and leading technical discussions during client interviews/projects

· Experience and/or familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and software (i.e. ArcGIS)

· Capable in MSWord, MSExcel, PowerPoint

· Familiarity of dynamic data visualization software such as PowerBI

· Experience and/or familiarity with hydraulic modeling software such as:

o InfoWorks ICM and WS

o WaterGEMS

o InfoWater Pro

o EPANet

o EPASWMM

o PCSWMM

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 15 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
