Job Summary

Provides legal research and litigation support. Responsible for assisting attorneys in maintaining and organizing legal projects, drafting and reviewing simple legal documents, and providing administrative support as necessary. Works under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • . Provides research for projects via Internet or other web-based legal research applications  
  • May write brief or summary of research findings for attorney  
  • Acts as point of contact for legal research questions and training . Creates and organizes files for new transactional and litigation matters  
  • Researches case law, statutes, and various other topics related to matters  
  • Retrieves archived projects or litigation cases 
  • Interfaces with outside counsel to obtain information pertinent to case(s)  
  • Tracks outside counsel invoices and routes to Finance for processing . Obtains appropriate signatures and routes check requests for political contributions  
  • Conducts legal research on federal, state and local laws regarding campaign contribution limitations 
  • Prepares and files monthly country specific political reports (in the U S , Political Action Committee - PAC) with appropriate commission (in the U S 
  • the State Ethics Commission - SEC)/agency/governing body . Maintains tracking database  
  • Updates contract language and/or mechanics of standard agreements  
  • Drafts limited contract reviews for attorneys as needed . Maintains electronic and hard copy files for executed contract agreements . Performs general office duties, which includes copying, faxing, filing, ordering office supplies, answering phones, and making travel arrangements . Updates Law Department web page content, as needed . Provides notary public services, as needed . Individual contributor with no subordinates

    Minimum Qualifications

    1-2 years corporate law or paralegal experience required. Legal research experience required. Legal software experience required. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred; Paralegal Certification (or global equivalent) preferred  
  • Some college preferred  
  • Preferred Skills: . Knowledge of governing (in the U S )federal, state and local) contract law databases . Basic knowledge of standard contract language and contractual relationships . Intermediate knowledge of electronic filing system . Basic knowledge of web page technology . Knowledge of the notary public policy and procedures . Experience with complex filing systems including hard copy and electronic . Intermediate knowledge of internet legal research tools . Intermediate word processing and database skills . Excellent legal research skills . Strong organizational skills . Good written communications skills, with strong attention to detail . Good verbal communication skills .
