Job Summary

Binnies is one of the UK's leading engineering and environment consultancies, specialising in water and environment projects. We are seeking seasonal, full time, ecologists between April and September 2021 to provide support to our portfolio of field surveys in England.

Key Responsibilities

Grade and exact role will be according to level of experience but may include:

  • Leading or supporting a range of field survey types, including bats, water voles, otters, badgers and great crested newts
  • Ecological Clerk of Works roles

This role would suit either entry level ecology graduates or those with up to 3 seasons delivering ecological contracts.

While employed you will benefit from technical and H&S training, paid membership of CIEEM, expenses while in the field, sick and holiday pay. We will also ensure you will be mentored as required to develop your field skills, working with experienced Lead ecologists as part of our supportive ecology team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • experience of Leading and/or assisting on protected species surveys or other specialist floral or faunal groups
  • an ecological/environmental related degree
  • a full UK driving licence
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • the ability to organise, manage and prioritise work, with or without supervision, in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver well-planned work schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • bat sound analysis
  • experience of using Arc suite (Collector, Survey 123) or similar
  • membership of CIEEM (any level)
  • CSCS card
  • additional relevant training (i.e. Confined spaces training, Tree climbing and Aerial Rescue)
  • have (or working towards) a protected species licence
