Job Summary

Responsible for coordination of the construction on large water/wastewater facility projects for municipal utilities. Initial assignment focused on Resident Engineer responsibilities as Owner’s and Engineer’s representative on design-bid-build construction contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct onsite observations of the general progress of construction work to determine if the work is proceeding in accordance with construction contract documents.
  • Serve as Engineer's liaison with the Contractor, working principally through the Contractor's superintendent, and assist Engineer in providing interpretation of the construction contract documents. 
  • Coordinate with Owners for Contractor's operations affect Owner's onsite operation.
  • Monitor and coordinate with Engineer and Contractor to ensure Contractor’s compliance with shop drawing or sample submissions.
  • Monitor changes of apparent integrity of the site, such as differing subsurface and physical conditions, existing structures, and site-related utilities when such utilities are exposed.
  • Review Contractors' construction sequence and traffic control plans for construction work undertaken simultaneously.
  • Verify that the Contractor has contacted utilities in the general construction area and advised them of Contractor's schedule.  
  • Assist in coordinating scheduling of utility activities to minimize conflicts with Owner's activities.
  • Visually inspect materials, equipment, and supplies delivered to the worksite. For conformance to the construction contract documents. 
  • Coordinate onsite materials testing services during construction.
  • Observe field tests of equipment, structures, and piping, and review the resulting reports, commenting to Engineer, as appropriate.
  • Participate in preconstruction conferences and monthly progress to review and discuss construction procedures and progress scheduling, engineering management procedures, and other matters concerning the project.
  • Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports of construction site and project activity.
  • Review contractor’s progress schedule(s), and assess and provide input to multiple project coordination requirements.
  • Review and make recommendations on Contractor applications for payment.
  • Maintain a marked set of drawings and specifications at the jobsite based on data provided by the Contractor and any changes to the work during the construction.
  • Coordinate with Engineer and Owner for start-up and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain appropriate construction records at the jobsite.
Management Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
3 years at Entry level CM or 5+ years at Superintendent Level; All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering or heavy industrial experience preferred, or relevant experience  
  • Experience with large water/wastewater facility projects for municipal utilities is preffered
