Black & Veatch is searching for a Decommissioning & Demolition Project Manager within our Power Division. The Decommissioning and Demolition Project Manager will be responsible for the development and project management of Decommissioning and Demolition projects from initial identification through project completion for multiple projects at a time.  Manages all aspects of Engineering Service projects, including risk to cost, schedule, quality.  Responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. Provides for the successful staffing of the project. Manages and leads small teams of multi-discipline professionals. Business development activities including presentations and client engagement activities will be required.  Projects will be primarily domestic.  Travel will be required.   

Key Responsibilities
  • Build on and improve strategy for overall Black & Veatch Decommissioning and Demolition program.
  • Manage all aspects of Decommissioning and Demolition project from identification to completion of demolition process.
  • Lead team to develop decommissioning and demolition cost estimates for client budgeting and Black & Veatch bid process.
  • Preparing presentations to present to clients and/or at conferences
  • Developing proposals
  • Develops and maintains relationships with clients.
  • Writes and presents project estimates and proposals including scope, cost, and schedule according to client requirements and bid processes.
  • Manages project budgets, costs, and deliverables.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders.
Management Responsibilities
Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with the decommissioning and demolition process from initial planning stages through completion of the demolition process and site restoration
  • Extensive experience in the development of complete decommissioning and demolition cost estimates.
  • Significant experience with regulatory and environmental requirements that must be addressed during the decommissioning and demolition process.
  • Effective communicator with experience in public speaking and presentation development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years related experience
  • Bachelor of science degree

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).  Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
