Job Summary

 

Black & Veatch is looking for a skilled Energy Sector Technical Lead who will be responsible for the ongoing USAID Investments in Developing Energy Assets (IDEA) project.  

 

 

Black & Veatch provides integrated planning, design and construction support for mission-critical facilities, as well as threat reduction and environmental services support for all federal clients worldwide. Leveraging over 105 years of trusted infrastructure experience, our in-house design capabilities and focus on stakeholder collaboration enables high-quality, on-time and on-budget project delivery

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assisting IDEA Project Management Unit (PMU) team to: 
  • Represent IDEA project on the local level with USAID, multiple Ukrainian counterparts, International Finance Institutions (IFIs) and donor organizations
  • Lead technical activities, including research, data collection and analysis, and task implementation on the local side
  • Assess energy system resilience at sites, identify vulnerabilities and risks, and devise options to improve system performance and resilience
  • Support technical studies for selected projects, as directed by PMU 
  • Work in various regions of Ukraine and multiple energy sub-sectors contributing to accuracy and completeness of the data assessments
  • Develop spreadsheets and Power Point presentations in English and Ukrainian
  • Report to the PMU on a weekly basis
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by IDEA PMU team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be resident in Ukraine
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering 
  • 10 years’ experience in power utility operations, engineering, and/or training 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required, in particular Excel and Power Point, to do analyses and presentations 
  • Technical knowledge, knowledge of laws and regulations in force 
  • The ability to multitask, manage and meet deadlines, and do data analysis
  • The ability to interact with local counterparts, IFIs and donor organizations and project staff on all levels 
  • Demonstrated communication skills 
  • Fluent in English and Ukrainian (both written and oral).
