The Opportunity

In this opportunity, the estimator prepares detailed cost estimates for a diverse client base including municipal, government and private clients. Project types include heavy civil and structural projects, dams, hydro facilities, tunnels, waterway/marine construction, treatment facilities, and pipeline conveyance.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading estimates, cost analysis, estimate coordination and consolidation.
• Performs cost and productivity analysis of estimates based on project scope, crew and equipment resources and regional location and site coordination.
• Works with Discipline Estimators as needed to finalize take-offs and estimate consolidation.
• Coordinates with design and project teams on project timelines and scope reviews.
• Performs comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects.
• Leads cost review meetings and prepares management presentations for approval.
• Reviews designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives where appropriate.
• Updates and maintain historical cost data and supports continuous improvement efforts.

Complex estimating principles and practices including conceptual estimating. Cost analysis. Mathematical skills. Understand construction means and methods. Consulting skills. Analytical skills. Interpret and understand specifications and contracts. Microsoft Excel proficiency. Drawing take-off tools such as Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff. Estimating software experience. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred, or minimum years of industry experience.

6+ years of heavy civil and structural estimating experience.

Field and/or project experience is a plus.

MCASES (MII) software experience is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years of estimating experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Office Environment: This position requires sitting, talking, hearing, keyboard input and seeing.  Occasional travel up to 25% may be required.

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
