Job Summary

Primary responsibility is to provide critical growth solutions while leading and developing the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) construction capabilities. Lead T&D construction through tremendous growth opportunities. Improve the reliability, resiliency, and modernization of the electric grid for Black & Veatch clients. Will be responsible for establishing and implementing approved programs, processes, systems, procedures, and risk assessment methodology adapted to the size and complexity of the work being performed.  #LI-KC1

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategy to grow the T&D construction business through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and organic growth. Establishes and maintains relationships and develops a high level of trust and credibility with key clients, alliance partners, subcontractors, and project teams. Responsible for execution and management of the direct-hire T&D line construction activities to be performed within the organization being developed. Responsible for Construction performance on Transmission & Distribution Line projects. Responsible for establishing and supporting the development of an apprentice training program to bring new resources into the industry to support organizational growth. Develop and implement a direct-hire T&D Line Construction group. Responsible for the development and execution of the T&D direct-hire Construction business plan. Assist with the identification, evaluation and assessment, and pursuit of potential T&D Line Construction company’s in a M&A process to build our capabilities. Implements approved programs, processes, systems, procedures, and risk assessment methodology adapted to the size and complexity of the work being performed. Works with the respective Sector Project Directors to assign, develop, train, mentor, and recruit resources for the scope of services performed. Controls their respective OH budget and costs, project budget and cost and reporting of budget and cost and takes corrective action as necessary. Identifies and requisitions equipment assets required to support the development of T&D Line Construction capabilities. Responsible for the performance, reliability, availability and quality of the support functions needed by the operation managers for project support Establishes, monitors, evaluates and recommends construction support of marketing, sales and strategy for the water group Implements Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Code of Conduct, Lessons Learned, and People FIRST programs in their respective business units in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, and Contractual commitments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fifteen years experience in direct-hire T&D line construction operations.
  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions
  • Open-shop construction experience preferred.
  • Experience managing group of operations professionals overseeing the pursuit & execution of direct-hire T&D line construction projects
  • Experience with growth of direct-hire T&D line construction capabilities
  • Experience with identification, evaluation and assessment, and pursuit of potential direct-hire T&D Line Construction companies in a M&A process

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Fifteen years experience in construction operations. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Physical Demands:
• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. 
• Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
• See and hear naturally or with correction.   
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. 
• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. 
• Requires repetitive movement. 
• May require work above 5 feet in height.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. 
• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

• Typical construction site environment:  
• Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. 
• Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. 
• Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions 
• Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. 
• Work around hazardous equipment.
• Typical office environment.
• This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
