Job Summary
We are seeking a Subcontracts Manager to oversees all subcontract activities for proposals/projects and may be responsible for developing and administering any related subcontracts. The role assists project teams to ensure contractual notices relating to time and money entitlements are documented, issued, and properly reported.
Based in Glasgow where we work to a Hybrid working model.
This role is ideally suited to someone with proven experience in Subcontracts or Construction Project Management.

Key Responsibilities
General:
- Performs project setup of subcontract related activities.
- Manages Subcontracting program for major projects following established policies and procedures.
- Participates in day to day subcontract development and administration activities, as required.
- Ensures subcontract documents are issued correctly and on schedule.
- Monitors project subcontract budgets and schedules (i.e., man-hours, cost, milestone durations, etc) and aligns to subcontract budgets and goals.
- Manages the establishment and/or monitoring of subcontract goals for a project.
- Participates in/leads meetings for the project, representing the Subcontracts department.
- Files appropriate documents and follows filing rules.
- May develop and lead presentations to internal/external clients and joint venture partners.
- May develop and conduct training programs; coaches and mentors professionals in subcontracts processes, tools, commercial terms and conditions and project execution.
- Resolves subcontracts issues to maintain schedule and mitigate risk for the project.
Subcontract Development Responsibilites:
- May lead proposal / estimating efforts for a major project(s) and become involved in early negotiations with long lead subcontractors, prior to project release.
- Manages the subcontract development process including bid list preparation, solicitation of requests for proposals, and evaluating, negotiating and awarding of subcontracts.
- Leads negotiations for subcontracts.
- Understands the Owner's contract and incorporates appropriate scope-specific flowdowns into Subcontract agreements.
- Ensures Subcontractor compliance with prequalification requirements
Subcontract Administration Responsibilities:
- Assists with the resolution of claims.
- Monitors project subcontract activities and reports status.
- Collaborates, as needed, to resolve major complex subcontracts issues.
- Facilitates management of strategic subcontractor relationships.
- Manages subcontract administration activities as assigned, including: running subcontractor meetings, drafting/reviewing/filing formal correspondence, executing the Change Management process, review and process invoices, resolve/process backcharges/claims/liquidated damages, and closeout of assigned subcontracts
Management Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant experience in Subcontracts, Construction Project Management, or Procurement preferred, or proven ability to perform at the capacity identified herein.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced understanding of subcontract and procurement processes and exhibits the capacity to effectively self-execute the transactional subcontracts process in accordance with established Company policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Exhibit appropriate skills at resolving complex commercial terms and conditions issues and other commercial issues through collaboration.
- Possesses an advanced knowledge and understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
- Strong understanding of Project Process Management
- General computer skills; Microsoft suite
- Attention to detail
- Ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prioritizes workflow.
- Advanced analytical / organizational skills
- Strong Supervisor Competencies
- multi-lingual, preferably in Spanish/English would be a nice to have (not essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- BA or BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Business, Technical or related field.
- Relevant field or office experience can substitute for a degree.
- Expert knowledge of construction disciplines, construction execution, means & methods and construction equipment.
