Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join a well-established and expanding water/wastewater team in our Indianapolis office. The Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing the project team through design elements, execution, and construction phases for water and wastewater projects. The Engineer will serve as the leader of project teams assuming management responsibilities of scope, budget and schedule; mentoring staff and identifying developmental growth opportunities; assisting with proposal and business development opportunities; and developing strong relationships with clients and contractors. This role will offer a wide variety of individual project assignments, including Black & Veatch’s current work on one of the largest infrastructure projects in Indianapolis, to develop technical knowledge and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead preparation of complex engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
  • Lead multi-discipline project teams to achieve project delivery in a timely manner with a focus on quality while exceeding client expectations.
  • Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
  • Support Project Managers in execution of project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Leverage professional networking skills to help identify and pursue project opportunities.
  • Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on projects.
  • Implements engineering resource management strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Prefer 15+ years professional experience managing and leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver water and wastewater design projects
  • Indiana PE (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of start date)
  • Previous consulting experience
  • Proficiency with computer software, including MS Office Suite and Project Software, CAD Software and Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience preparing proposals and reports, producing design drawings, preparing technical specifications, and providing construction phase services
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration
