The Opportunity
With the increased focused on resource circularity across the US and globally, Black & Veatch is looking for a proven leader who is ready to step into an Integrated Resources leadership role in the western United States. Our client base spans municipal and private companies that have wide ranging needs related to wastewater management, biosolids/resource recovery, permitting, regulatory compliance and resource resilience.
The Integrated Resources Lead will have the opportunity to orchestrate and deliver innovative solutions for Governments & Communities (G&C) clients, with focus on the Pacific Northwest. The Integrated Resources Lead will also work across multiple BV sectors including Technology, Commercial & Industrial; Power Providers; and Fuels & Natural Resources to create opportunities for industrial symbiosis (e.g. regional hub development) and decarbonization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Business Development
- Leverage and build relationships with key clients and decision makers
- Work collaboratively with cross-sector BV teams to develop strategies, identify target clients, capture work, and execute flawlessly. Working together in a multi-sector team with shared responsibilities is a key aspect of this role
- Support business development activities, especially in the Pacific Northwest, focusing on lead generation and capture of targeted pursuits for water and environmental services
- Communicate client needs to broader solution teams to enhance our understanding of those needs
- Develop better ways of operating and communicating our offerings to meet those needs
- Maintain and promote visibility by engaging in strategic industry organizations
Technical Leadership
- Understand and promote expertise in biosolids management and symbiosis, with a focus on the Pacific Northwest and California and other regions with emerging beneficial reuse needs.
- Orchestrate and lead the execution of Integrated Resources projects, which may include development of Integrated Resources Strategic Plans that include elements of climate impact and resilience assessments, beneficial use assessment, microgrid integration and energy pairing for communities, and community engagement.
- Provide innovative thinking to assist BV in developing cutting-edge technologies and solutions in industrial symbiosis and circularity
Disciplinary, Project and Staff Support
- Provide support to the Treatment Solution team, primarily in biosolid and circularity projects
- Support project execution with roles ranging from technical oversight to specific subject matter expertise
- Identify and support building the capabilities needed to support client needs. This includes skill development, people development and recruiting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Planning, or related Engineering or Science degree from an accredited program
- 20+ years of experience with wastewater-related projects and clients
- Experience with Industrial Water sector programs
- An understanding of the broad range of integrated planning needs of these clients, including an understanding of treatment needs
- Experience in a client-facing/business development role
- Experience growing and leading project teams and executing capital projects
- Experience with regional resource hub development, integrating inputs from both municipal and industrial clients
- Experience and familiarity with water circularity concepts
- Familiarity with the Pacific Northwest municipal, industrial water and wastewater market
