Key Responsibilities

Perform civil engineering design, including the design of drainage systems (inlets and pipes), stream restoration and design, energy dissipation design, construction quantity calculations, and opinions of probable cost. Develop documentation and assist in water resources permitting efforts. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling including the use of such models as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1- and 2-D), XP-SWMM (1- and 2-D) for analysis of streams, dams, levee systems, watersheds, etc.; Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling including the use of such models as ANSYS CFX and FLOW-3D; GIS modeling, including geospatial analysis, database management, and model geometry preparation. Prepare project documentation and reports; Perform limited scope and budget responsibilities, including the development of budget and scope for small projects. Mentor and train engineers and technicians on a project-by-project basis. No hire/fire authority.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field plus three years of related experience in hydrology and hydraulics in the context of civil engineering, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field plus five years of related experience in hydrology and hydraulics in the context of civil engineering. Must have EIT Certification. Related experience must include proficiency in modeling software, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, ANSYS CFX, FLOW-3D, and InfoWorks. Must have experience with geospatial analysis and development of model geometry using ArcGIS and Civil3D. Must have knowledge of local and federal floodplain management regulations. Must also have experience with design guidelines and regulations of hydraulic structures. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
