Job Summary

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Electrical Engineer within our Water Americas Systems Design Group in our Kansas City, MO design center.

Our Systems Design Group provides electrical, instrumentation & control and process mechanical solutions to all of Black & Veatch’s Water/Wastewater projects throughout North America. Black & Veatch’s Kansas City office currently serves clients across the Americas.

 

Key Responsibilities

Position Overview
• Lead Electrical design for water/wastewater projects
• Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering and technician staff
• Develop a variety of complex engineering deliverables including one-line diagrams, schematics, power and lighting plans, electrical installation details, and technical specifications
• Coordinate with regional and global design teams
• Continuous learning and development of technical expertise/specialty area

Additional Project Opportunities
• Studies –Energy Optimization, Power System Coordination and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, and Electrical Reliability Analysis
• Construction inspection and resolution of electrical construction issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Professional Engineer’s license in MO, KS, or another US jurisdiction
• 5+ years in electrical design, planning and construction services
• Consulting and Water/Wastewater experience preferred
• Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software a plus

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 5 years related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration

Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards(electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemical(s), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).  Sitting, walking, talking hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
