Job Summary

Prepares, leads, and reviews lump sum, unit rate, and cost-plus estimates for projects within the Process Industries, Mining, & Manufacturing Market Sector.

The Process Industries, Mining, & Manufacturing Market Sector delivers solutions across the entire BV portfolio, (Water, Power, Telecom, etc.), specifically targeted for clients in the Process Industries, Mining, and Manufacturing sectors. Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordination with design and project teams
• Responsible for conceptual estimating, detailed estimating, cost analysis, and estimate coordination and consolidation
• Prepares Estimate Development Plan documents
• Reviews the design scope and develop quantities 
• Performs productivity analysis of estimates
• Prepares project general conditions or indirect costs for estimates
• Prepares contingency, escalation and reconciliations for estimates 
• Performs comparisons of scope, quantities and cost data between projects 
• Prepares management presentations
• Prepares Basis of Estimate Reports including all necessary backup documentation (Quotes, MTOs, etc.)
• Updates and maintains historical cost data 
• Reviews designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives where appropriate 
• Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements
• Support proposals with estimates for the hours to complete

Management Responsibilities

Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BS or MS graduate in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is preferred. May consider other work experience in lieu of degree with proper background.
• Experience: 10 years, with at least 5 years spent in a Mechanical Equipment and/or Piping Discipline Estimator role.
• Industrial construction field and/or project site experience is a plus
• Preferred Skills: Complex estimating principles and practices including conceptual estimating, Cost Analysis, Mathematical Skills, Project Design Scopes, Consulting Skills, Analytical Skills, Interpret and Understand Specifications and Contracts. Microsoft Suite Efficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Knowledge of Estimating Software, Good verbal and communication skills, Good presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

6 to 20 years of relevant experience, including some estimating experience, is required. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Typical office environment, sitting, standing, computer usage for extended periods of time. Typing, speaking, listening, ability to utilize audio and video conferencing software for internal/external communication purposes.
