The Opportunity

We are growing our UK based team due to demand and we are now seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Data Centres with strong technical background and hands-on experience designing electrical building services systems, to support projects throughout the EMEA region, including data centre and mission critical projects. Leading the electrical design and collaborating across engineering disciplines, you will provide leadership and technical direction to our global design teams who produce drawings, SLDs, studies, reports and more.

The role can be based in our London or Glasgow office, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in the office and 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Serves as a senior technical specialist, serving as the senior electrical discipline engineer on project teams, including overseas design offices.
• Develop detailed electrical systems design, including HV/LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, structured cabling, and security systems.
• Develop detailed plans and specifications, support, direct and review work undertaken by our global design team.
• Ensure design conformance with industry standards and regulations, collaborating with project teams.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with other engineering disciplines.
• Interpreting, applying, and providing direction for complex engineering deliverables.
• Typically supports multiple projects on complex technical challenges.
• Researches and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively developed, implemented, and communicated. 
• Manages assigned project budget, schedule and quality requirements.
• Leverages global subject matter expertise within Black & Veatch to optimize electrical qualifications and knowledge sharing.
• Prepare and present project documentation, reports, and design calculations.
• Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Support the project team in the identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in other EMEA regions is desirable
• Low voltage distribution systems
• Proficiency in using design software such as Dialux, Amtech and ETAP
• Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
• Extensive experience in electrical design engineering, of which a significant amount should be from within a UK based consultancy

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
Minimum of 11 years related work experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Typical office environment: Sitting/standing, computer usage for extended periods of time. Speaking, Listening.
• Ability to utilize audio/video conferencing software for internal/external communication purposes.
• May require travel to client/project sites. May require ability to rent/drive a vehicle requiring UK Driver's licence.
• Typical construction site: Adhering to safety procedures and protocols. Awareness of surroundings on job-site and related hazards.
• Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
