The success of a nuclear power station depends on far more than reactor technology. Behind every nuclear facility is a complex network of buildings, structures and engineered systems that must be designed to the highest standards of safety, resilience and performance.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of critical infrastructure for nuclear projects across the Spain and internationally.

This is not a nuclear science or reactor technology role. Instead, we are looking for engineers with experience designing the physical structures and infrastructure that enable nuclear facilities to operate safely, including reinforced concrete structures, steel-framed buildings, foundations, equipment support structures, seismic-resistant systems and safety-related facilities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and specialist expertise across a range of nuclear infrastructure projects.

You will work within multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative and practical structural solutions for some of the most complex engineering challenges within the energy sector.

• Leading the structural design of nuclear and safety-critical facilities.
• Developing structural engineering concepts from feasibility through detailed design.
• Delivering reinforced concrete and structural steel designs for buildings, plant structures and supporting infrastructure.
• Producing structural calculations, design reports, specifications and technical documentation.
• Supporting the design of foundations, equipment supports, platforms, access structures and containment-related infrastructure.
• Reviewing and assuring technical outputs to ensure quality and compliance.
• Coordinating closely with mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation engineering teams.
• Supporting design reviews, constructability assessments and engineering assurance activities.
• Managing engineering deliverables in line with project schedules, budgets and quality requirements.
• Providing mentoring and technical guidance to developing engineers.
• Interfacing directly with clients, project teams, contractors and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in candidates who understand the engineering challenges associated with designing the infrastructure of complex industrial and nuclear facilities.

Relevant experience could include:

• Reinforced concrete design.
• Structural steel design.
• Safety-critical building design.
• Industrial facility structures.
• Equipment support structures.
• Seismic-resistant structural systems.
• Foundations and below-ground structures.
• Blast-resistant or hazard-resilient design.
• Nuclear facility modifications and upgrades.
• Structural assessments and integrity reviews.
• Design substantiation and verification.
• Brownfield engineering projects.
• Multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Experience using industry-standard structural analysis software will be advantageous.

• Demonstrable structural design capability for complex facilities or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of engineering design assurance and quality processes.
• Experience preparing technical reports, calculations and specifications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications

• AIPE or AQPE or working towards qualification through a recognised professional institution. (Preferred but not essential).
• A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline
• Typically 5+ years of relevant Structural or Civil engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of Spanish engineering standards, regulations and industry best practices.
• Must have the legal right to work within the country that you are applying for (Spain)
• Must be fluent in Spanish and English languages (Written and verbal)
