The Opportunity

In this role, you will have opportunity to:

  • Function in a field mechanical engineer capacity at the Columbia Generating Station (CGS) located north of Richland, Washington.
  • Act as primary in-person contact / liaison for Black & Veatch at the plant and communicate with the home office engineering team to identify and resolve all engineering related issues in a timely manner.  
  • Take necessary actions to maintain project schedule targets and develop a stable working relationship with a client personnel including project management, design engineering, system engineering, and administration.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. 
  • Attend daily plant status meetings within their assigned department.
  • Maintain access authorization standards and plant requirements for unescorted access to the plant

Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • This professional should also have 3-5 years of previous experience as a field engineer and/or engineering design experience on Nuclear Power Plants
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline 

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 3 years related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Schedule: This role will consist of a 4 day work week at 10 hours a day

This professional should be able to meet the physical demands associated with working in a field engineer role. These demands may include:

  • Standing, Kneeling, Bending, Stooping, and Walking long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
  • The ability to see and hear naturally or with correction.   
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. 
  • Comfortability to work above 5 feet in height.
  • Climbing and maintaining balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
