Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Manager  who will have the opportunity to help increase its water and wastewater market presence in Nashville, TN. This is an opportunity to take on a leadership role with employee ownership in a global organization with resources shared across the world. The position is a high-profile civil engineering leadership role at Black & Veatch. In this capacity, this professional will serve as the lead for the water / wastewater engineering consulting business leadership team.  As part of Water Americas collaborative team, you will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of water related infrastructure projects in the multi-million-dollar range with municipal clients.  

Responsibilities include financial performance, planning, schedule, quality, and safety. A key responsibility will also be to lead sales and marketing efforts with other Client Directors, Water Business Lines and Project Managers by working collaboratively with the design engineering execution team and clients to ensure satisfaction with team performance, project milestones and client expectations.  Projects within the purview of this position will span from conceptual planning, across preliminary and final design, to construction phase support and construction management for water, wastewater, storm water and related water resource facilities; pumping stations and distribution and conveyance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction in business development and project execution
  • Manages risk and helps achieve business objectives
  • Increases BV visibility in the market through involvement in professional organizations
  • Helps recruit and mentor staff to grow project execution capabilities
  • Manages medium to large engineering projects involving multiple clients or partners

Management Responsibilities

Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years business development and project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Strong knowledge of local utility market and relationships
  • Proven experience in developing and growing a water / wastewater consulting
  • Background in strategic planning and business plan development
  • Self-starter and ability to make decisions independently
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Proven technical understanding of Wastewater and Water markets, including drivers and general trends
  • Strong sales traits, including tenacity and competitiveness
  • Strong inter-personal skills.  Adept at working in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proposal and presentations skills

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
