Job Summary

Black & Veatch delivers design, procurement and construction solutions to help provide wastewater treatment to communities worldwide.  We serve public and private clients with a strong focus on life cycle economy, efficiency, and reliability. Black & Veatch helps clients with startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and training of their operations staff to be able to effectively operate the new and upgraded facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide startup, commissioning and troubleshooting services for conventional wastewater treatment, advanced wastewater treatment, and biosolids.  
• Prepares standard operating procedures, energy control procedures, job safety analysis, and operation and maintenance manuals for new and existing facilities.
• Perform onsite training of operations staff.
• Evaluate staffing, operating costs, and system redundancy for reliable operations.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 10 years' experience in wastewater operations or commissioning of wastewater plants.  Plant startup and commissioning experience a must.  Technical writing skills and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PDF, Microsoft Visio) are a must. WW Operator License is Preffered, Valid Drivers License is Required.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years' of experience performing duties similar to those of an Environmental Scientist 4. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Work Environment includes typical office environment, typical construction site environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, safety hazards (electrical, scaffolding, chemicals, confined spaces) atmospheric conditions (fumes, dust,mist, gases, odors, poor ventilation).  Physical demands include sitting walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, reaching, stooping, and filing about 75% of the time.  Demands on driving, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, and lifting or carrying objects up to 25 to 50 pounds may occur around 25% of the time. Travel is required and can range between 25% to 75% of the time.
