Job Summary

Join Black & Veatch in Orlando as a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer on T-Line projects

Performs as Civil Lead Transmission Line Engineer within the Global Transmission Unit in Orlando, FL.  Will assist with developing a growing engineering team, providing direction and guidance on projects.  Serves as Technical Specialist in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards. Typically, is considered a Subject Matter Expert able to support multiple projects and technical challenges. Proactively provides direction on department design guides and applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies. Reviews lower level engineering work.  Manages budget, schedule and quality requirements. Focuses on client needs; communicates needs to the project team and develops approaches to accomodate concerns throughout the project. Assists with business development activities.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards:

  • Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines
  • Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
  • Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects
  • Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
  • Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work
  • Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and principles
  • Develops and applies advanced engineering solutions to complex problems
  • Is responsible for one or more of the following: leading production teams; coordinating multiple discipline activity; and serving as the responsible charge for projects
  • Establishes work plan to be applied to a given project

 

Client Focus:

  • Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects
  • Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities

 

People Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring):

  • Typically oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions
  • Implements resource management strategy
  • Manages engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from a recognized accredited degree program.

Minimum of 11 years related T&D experience.

Previous lead, supervisory experience. 

PE license or ability to obtain through reciprocity for FL.
