Job Summary
Functions in a mid level engineer capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and verify mechanical calculations; prepare mechanical and piping deliverables; and check vendor drawings and calculations; prepare detailed system design calculations to determine pipe stress values under multiple system operating and testing modes during various ambient conditions; interpret piping isometric drawings; create computer models of piping and pipe hanger/support systems; analyze piping systems utilizing computer models; select and detail pipe hangers and supports; create pipe support drawings; review the work of other pipe stress analysis engineers and technicians; coordinate work with the work of system design engineers; enter data and maintain databases; assist with preparation of procurement specifications for pipe hangers and supports; and work on projects providing stress analysis and pipe support design; rotate through several related mechanical sections such as Piping Engineering, System Engineering, HVAC, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field, plus one year of related experience. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field, plus three years of related experience. Must have demonstrated understanding of ASME B31 codes for pipe stress analysis.  Must have experience in pipe stress analysis in the design of power plants or refineries, and LNG facilities. Must have demonstrated ability to do complex dynamic analysis for vibration and transient conditions, and to review and interpret piping isometrics for power plant and refinery equipment and systems. Must have experience using AutoPIPE, Caesar II, Open Plant Modular, and AutoCAD or comparable tools. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
