Job Summary

Assistant Manager position in Execution Phase Commercial Management function located in Home Office or on Project Site as appropriate.

This position is an entry-level management position with functional responsibility to Commercial Manager, Execution Phase. 

In addition to performing duties as assigned, this position is primarily focused on providing support to the Commercial  Manager for all commercial matters as requested.

This is an assistant manager without direct subordinates. May supervises work of others not reporting to this position.  


Key Responsibilities

Is assigned to and proactively supports multiple Execution Phase Commercial Managers from "Day 1" to positively influence compliance with contract T&C's, claim avoidance and scope change management.

Execution Phase Commercial Management:
•Assist in preparation of Contract Administration Plan identifying key contractual terms such as change order processes, notice requirements, etc.
•Assist in preparation of Commercial Awareness Training specific to prime contract.
• Assist in the tracking of the preparation of commercial letters, notices and other key correspondences in compliance with prime contract requirements.
• Assist in the assembly and updating of prime contract baseline documents for central filing (RFQ, B&V final proposal, negotiation notes and MOM's, complete/executed prime contract agreement and executed change orders and amendments.
•Assist in compiling data and reporting to functional management input from individual Weekly Dashboards of prime contract commercial activity (e.g. CO's in process/submitted, approved by client, notices/letters issued, weekly tasks to be achieved, main areas of concern).
• Assist in the identification of prime contract clauses requiring flow down into purchase orders and subcontract T&Cs.
•Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project specific Commercial Action/Responsibilities matrix.
•Perform internet research tasks as assigned and perform documentation audits as assigned.

  • Computer skills:  Microsoft Office, Database Concepts and Scheduling Software if assigned to scheduling work.
  • Basic verbal, written communications and inter-personal skills: Good verbal and written communication skills for interaction with project teams.
  • Basic process execution:  Understand transformation of data to information – Ability to visualize how data can be transformed into information in the production of project controls reports for use by project teams.
  • Business systems maintenance: Understanding of how project contract issues relate to other company functions such as project accounting, procurement, QAQC, etc.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in any discipline. At least three years of relevant Commercial management experience in Home Office or Field Office.
