Job Summary

Contract with the potential to convert to Black & Veatch professional.  The Electric Vehicle Civil Site Design Engineering Specialist 3 plays a key role in assisting our clients with land development opportunities for both the public and private sector.  This position is one where growth opportunities exist within our organization.  We are looking to find individuals who pride themselves on delivering successful projects to our clients while building relationships internally and externally to the firm.  The Civil Engineering Specialist will lead the civil project team on the execution of these new and exciting engineering projects.  Is responsible for the entire site design process.  This includes assisting in:

  • Coodinating with our land survey team
  • Coordinating with other project disciplines - Electrical Engineers, Permitting Team, Structural Engineers, Graphics Team, and Project Managers
  • Interacting with various jurisdictional entities
  • Solving complex engineering objectives
  • Coming up with brilliant design solutions
  • Leading civil engineering design
  • Ensuring a quality experience for our clients
Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day, you will work closely with engineering design staff, clients, other discipline staff, jurisdictional reviewers, and Black & Veatch leadership.  You will be the link between the project manager and the civil design team.   You will be an integral part of delivering the project for the client.

  • Serve as the civil engineer in executing projects from kickoff through project completion.
  • Understanding the project needs and goals to provide our clients with quality services and deliverables.
  • Responsible for client communications regarding civil design expectations, timelines, budgets, and project details.
  • Assisting senior civil engineer with proposals for projects.
  • Mentoring more junior staff to ensure their growth in the organization grows, while growing your position in the organization.
  • Ensuring that design documents meet the local, state, federal, and best practice standards.
  • Work with local, state, and federal authorities regarding requisite approvals necessary for the project.
  • Work to ensure that quality assurance and quality controls are maintained prior to issuing documents externally.
  • Identify and solve complex technical issues related to projects to minimize project risk.
  • Manage civil engineering portion of the project design budget, review invoices, and project financials.
  • Works with construction team for client project to provide additional information and assist the client with construction administration, as needed, for ensuring the successful execution of a project.
Management Responsibilities
Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Typically a minimum of 3 years related site development work experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities  
  • EIT / PE preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge:  We are looking for someone who has design experience and/or passion with regards to grading design, parking lot design, green infrastructure, and storm water management.

Minimum Qualifications
