Job Summary

Responsible for the successful execution of design services where Black and Veatch is the Designer of Record in Design Build procured projects or programs, supporting an external or internal construction entity (General Contractor/ Construction Manager). Primary areas of focus include execution of quality deliverables, maintaining overall client service, meeting key financial performance metrics throughout duration of execution, planning, scheduling, contractual compliance, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages risk on design build procured projects across all phases of the project life cycle (proposal through construction administrative services).
  • Candidates should have D/B experience in the following building types: Mission Critical facilities, hangars, maintenance, administration facilities, and/or support facilities.
  • Develops and manages project workplans and budgets.

 

Management Responsibilities

  • Manages in-house multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Candidate must have the ability of managing multiple client/ users/ stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Obtains new/repeat business on design/build projects; supports contract negotiations with clients. 
  • Mentors staff at all levels.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

 

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

Qualified candidates should be a Registered Architect or Professional Engineer.

PMP Certification preferred, but not required.

DBIA Certification preferred, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 15 years relevant experience in project management
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering or Architecture. 
  • Design Build experience with NAVFAC, USACE, and/or AF.  Additional federal civilian agency experience preferred.
  • Experience managing design build projects/ programs as the Designer of Record
  • Ability of understanding project SOW, fee proposal development, and design and construction schedules.
  • Exceptional client development skillsets.
  • Firm understanding and background in the QA/QC process.
