The Opportunity

The Digital Product Operations Leader will be a part of the Digital Products leadership team with accountability for shaping and evolving the Digital Products Operating Model (DPOM), driving operational excellence, cultural alignment, and adoption of modern product organization practices. This role focuses on embedding Lean and Scaled Agile principles, fostering continuous improvement, and ensuring robust stakeholder engagement. A strong cultural fit with the Digital & IT organization is critical, as this leader will champion accountability and metrics-driven decision-making across the Digital team.

 

This role is pivotal in ensuring that the Digital Products Operating Model delivers on its promise of agility, scalability, and enduring business value. By fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, the Senior Product Operations Leader will help transform how digital products are conceived, delivered, and sustained.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible.   Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services. 

Key Responsibilities

Coach and Drive Agile adoption

  • Lead the adoption of Lean and Scaled Agile principles across product teams, ensuring alignment with DPOM practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for product leaders and teams on agile delivery, governance, and performance metrics.

Enable Continuous Improvement

  • Implement and evolve the Digital Operating Model to improve speed, quality, and adaptability.
  • Introduce frameworks for ongoing internal and external customer feedback, with retrospectives to institutionalize learning and improvement cycles.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: 

  • Establish robust communication channels with users and key stakeholders to build trust, drive adoption, and enable feedback loops.
  • Own and facilitate forums for transparency on priorities, progress, and outcomes.

Culture & Accountability: 

  • Own cultural aspects for the Digital team, promoting a culture of accountability and metrics-driven decision-making.
  • Embed practices that differentiate responsibility vs accountability, ensuring clarity of ownership and outcomes.

Metrics & Governance: 

  • Define and track KPIs for product operations (e.g., cycle time, predictability, adoption rates, stakeholder satisfaction).
  • Partner with leadership to ensure governance rituals and performance reviews align with DPOM principles.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in product operations, agile coaching, or program management within large enterprises.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean principles, and product-centric delivery models.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills; ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience driving cultural transformation and embedding accountability practices.
  • Familiarity with digital product lifecycle and operating models (ideation to sunset).
  • Background in IT or Digital organizations with exposure to enterprise-scale transformation programs.
  • Hands-on experience with continuous improvement frameworks and change management.
  • Ability to work across global teams and manage cultural diversity.
Communication and Cultural Fit
  • Exceptional ability to engage and influence senior business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business language.
  • Skilled in building consensus across diverse teams and driving alignment on strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrates a strong cultural fit for Digital and IT organizations, embracing agility, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Maturity with adoption of Agile practices.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
