Duties

Work on multiple engineering projects as the Electrical Engineering lead within the water/wastewater industry.  Interface with client and implementing electrical solutions to cater to each challenge by creating arc flash studies, protective relaying coordination, low-voltage, and medium-voltage equipment designs.  Assign engineering tasks to support electrical engineers and interns and coordinating with other engineering firms to deliver a cohesive design package to the client.  Deliver yearly brownbag presentations within area of expertise to the electrical team to update and grow our internal knowledge base.  Oversee Electrical Engineers.  No hire/fire authority.  Applicants for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require employer sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (i.e., H-1B visa, TN visa or any other non-immigrant status).

Requirements

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related plus three years of related experience, or, in the alternative, Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related plus five years of related experience.  PE license is required.  Must have experience in using both software packages, PTW32 and ETAP, to perform short-circuit and arc flash analysis, load flow analysis and protective device coordination.  Must have experience in using AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu to create non-dimensional drawings including electrical one-lines and schematics.  Must have experience reading and editing electrical specifications and using both NFPA 70 and NFPA 820 code books to perform electrical design on projects. Must have experience reviewing specifications and creating electrical support designs for water and wastewater process equipment including pumping systems, clarifiers, dewatering systems, and aeration blower systems. Must have experience with utilizing motor control centers, unit-substations, variable frequency drives, switchboards, dry-type and liquid filled transformers, and automatic transfer switches within a power distribution design.  Must have experience in designing Medium-Voltage power distribution systems using MV switchgears, power circuit breaker schematics, DC battery systems, protective relaying using ANSI devices, and generator paralleling systems. Must have experience reviewing Contractor equipment submittals and responding to Request For Information submittals during the construction phase of a project. Telecommuting is permissible within a reasonable commuting distance from Overland Park, KS office.  National travel required 20%.   Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
