The Opportunity

As the Expat Tax & Global Payroll Analyst, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Be responsible for the processing of global payrolls in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with B&V policies and basic payroll principles – Local and Shadow. This responsibility ensures that B&V complies with all payroll procedures and tax mandated requirements.
  • Provide resolution of basic issues
  • Serve as a technical advisor to professionals, HR, Finance and management related to payroll & expat tax issues
  • Coordinate and assist Supervisor in making recommendations for improving the effectiveness of policies and practices
  • Be responsible for expatriate tax compliance under Shadow payroll, including applicable tax calculations and research related to specific tax compliance issues
  • Coordinate year-end tax filing details with 3rd party tax vendor
  • Works under frequent supervision

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities

Expatriate Tax processing, including, but not limited to: 

  • Report compensation to our overseas entities. 
  • Prepare tax cost estimates. 
  • Provide accrual calculations for each expat. Report to management any differences between projected costs to actuals. 
  • Responsible for providing documentation to outside tax consultants who support tax preparation.   
  • Maintain track of current compliance and ensures all tax returns are filed in a timely manner and are organized for record. 

Payroll and post-payroll processing in various countries, including, but not limited to: 

  • Gross to net pay calculations 
  • Processing "off cycle" payroll checks as required. 
  • Provides wire transfer requests to Treasury for payroll bank account funding for assigned entities. 
  • Create and assist Statutory Accountants with journal entries for international payrolls 
  • Coordinate and provide various reports to internal and external auditors.  
  • Research Tax and Payroll issues for various countries. 
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. 
  • Identifies and implements payroll & expat tax best practices. 
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively followed.  
  • Answers inquiries as designated from the shared email. 
  • Responsible for protecting and maintaining the privacy of such records and information.   

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Technical Skills: 

  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Basic Microsoft Excel, Intermediate
  • Knowledge of Black and Veatch Systems, Basic
  • Knowledge of individual income tax a plus
  • General Accounting knowledge, Basic
  • Knowledge of Financial Statement analysis, Basic
  • Knowledge of Income Tax, Sales Tax, and/or International Tax, Basic
  • Tax research skills, basic Preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree, in accounting or business preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Typically 2+ years' related experience
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
