The Opportunity

The Global IT Infrastructure Manager is an extremely critical position in the organization reporting to the Global Director of Infrastructure Operation. This role oversees Black & Veatch’s most important global and critical assets in areas of compute, storage, backup & restore, web servers, databases, file storage, Datacenters, cloud services, upgrades of software and hardware to help develop a high level of security in the most critical infrastructure, remediation & patch management in all offices globally and in all our Datacenters whether on-prem and/or cloud.

 

The Global IT Infrastructure Manager is a technical professional who in addition to the above responsibilities, also manages IT budget, develops roadmaps & strategies, mange IT Black & Veatch personnel and Manages our Service Provider (MSP). The position is also involve in all IT projects related to infrastructure services and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and drive innovation in infrastructure technologies.

The Team

As part of BV Business Enablement, you will be part of the critical and forward-thinking group that enables our people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible by providing creative solutions.   Functions in this group include CIO/Global Information Technology, Diode, ESH&S, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, and backup services in all Datacenters (Azure, on-Prem, remote offices).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and secure data flow.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary upgrades.
  • Maintain Vendor Relationships.
  • Work closely with external vendors and service providers to design and deploy successful solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (such as ISO, NIST, NERC-CIP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and operational needs.
  • Lead and supervise the IT infrastructure team, including network engineers, system administrators, and external vendors.
  • Implement IT infrastructure projects, such as server upgrades, cloud migrations, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Plan and Execute a DR exercise two times a year between our on-prem Data centers.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance, reliability, and security of our IT systems.
  • Help resolve IT infrastructure issues, such as network outages, server failures, and security breaches.
  • Provides guidance, analysis, design, standardization, implementation, and maintenance of server and storage systems in support.
  • Manage the data storage systems so that proper allocations in the production and development environments are maintained in accordance with business levels.
  • Assess and approve proposed changes affecting Data Center supported infrastructure.
  • Forecast infrastructure technology demand including transaction and data volume and timing.
  • Ensure adherence to incident, change, and problem management processes.
  • Leading and overseeing IT infrastructure and architecture projects from initiation to completion. Coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, managing project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Collaborating with other IT teams, business units, and executives to understand their requirements and provide effective IT infrastructure solutions. 
  • Communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Oversee and monitor the performance of the Service Provider.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related Field.
  • At least 5+ years of people management experience, managing technical teams.
  • 10+ years of experience in server and storage management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, communicate well verbally and in writing, and be able to prioritize task effectively.
  • Effective communication with team members, direct reports, stakeholders, and other departments is essential.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leading you Team and prioritization of task, projects, resources, and budget are key responsibilities.
  • 10+ years of experience managing Windows Server and Linux Server operating systems.
  • 10+ years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • 10+ years of experience with Dell servers and EMC storage hardware
  • 10+ years of system virtualization administration 
  • 10+ years of Backup & Recovery administration
  • 5+ years leading global support team. 
  • Willingness to learn innovative technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
  • Microsoft certification MCSE strongly preferred.
  • ITIL V3 certification preferred.
