The Opportunity
Black & Veatch is seeking a qualified IT Sourcing Manager to join our Digital & IT Sourcing, Procurement, and Vendor Management (SPVM) team. The ideal candidate will bring IT procurement expertise, drive sourcing strategy, and utilize market intelligence to enhance outcomes and secure D&IT’s position as a trusted and critical strategic partner to business stakeholders. They will have the ability to work with vendors to develop statements of work, understand complex managed services agreements with associated SLAs, and negotiate global contracts for managed services and goods. They will have demonstrated ability to independently develop and lead complex RFx exercises. #LI-NK1 #LI-Hybrid
As the IT Sourcing Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
- Negotiate commercial terms
- Coordinate Legal, InfoSec, and Architectural reviews incorporating relative feedback into related contracts with a balanced risk approach
- Manage spend and drive ongoing value from vendors across all IT spend categories including IT Services & Labor, IT Infrastructure (Hardware, Telecom), Cloud, and Software
The Team
Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the full sourcing process which includes development of scope, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, and contract execution
- Independently lead end to end RFx activities in support of sourcing strategy
- Review and negotiate IT related contracts, agreements, and statements of work to ensure favorable terms, mitigate overall risk and ambiguity
- Coordinate governance efforts with commercial activities as required (i.e. InfoSec, Enterprise Architecture, Legal, Risk, and Compliance)
- Strong ability to communicate with stakeholders, legal and procurement staff, and business leaders to craft contracts that align complex needs with contractual requirements to achieve business outcomes
- Leads the change request and/or escalation process related to contractual ambiguity or disputes
- Develops standard contractual language as required based on contract type and complexity
- Documents and files agreements accordingly and provides contract term summaries to the parties involved to ensure a general understanding of scope, risks, termination clauses, and performance guarantees
- Communicates SPVM programs internally to evangelize program benefits and facilitate program adoption and/or policy compliance
- Acts as the point of escalation for contractual escalations and disputes. Research contractual terms and provide interpretation of contractual language supporting the dispute. Works directly with the vendor to resolve disputes and escalate to internal management as needed
- Maintains database of contract term dates, renewal clauses, termination details, and non-disclosure agreement dates. Maintains database of issues and escalations, open/close dates, status, and resolution details
- Leverage interpersonal relationship strengths to manage disputes and drive change in vendor behaviors, and create a working environment where vendors receive incentives to change behaviors and meet performance goals
- Create a customer-focused, service-based approach to working with stakeholders and vendors that emphasizes the creation and cultivation of cross-organizational relationships
Scope Data:
This position is primarily responsible for the review of all IT-related contracts, agreements, and statements of work. These reviews will involve general revisions to mitigate risk, ensure performance and eliminate ambiguity. Reviews will be conducted from both a commercial and legal perspective. Standardization of the overall review process and required contractual language will be required. Communication to stakeholders and documentation regarding concerns and risks will be a key objective of this role.
Management Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years' experience in IT Procurement or related field
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education preferred (University / College Degree)
- 8+ years’ experience in Contract Administration / Sourcing and Procurement Management or related field.
- Contract Management Training and Certification (CMBOK) a plus
- Ability to read and interpret complex documents, legislation, and policies
- Ability to research, compile, analyze, interpret, and disseminate data and information
- Experience with contract reviews, vendor negotiations, risk mitigation
- Experience leading sourcing engagements (RFP, RFI, Reverse Auctions, etc)
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- General IT knowledge of major hardware and software providers and products
- Ability to escalate and negotiate one-on-one with a vendor.
- Able to work independently, prioritize task and escalate as appropriate.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Normal office environment with hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
- Work involves sitting most of the time, working with computer, keyboard, mouse and headset
- All positions require the ability to exert up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push or pull objects.
