The Opportunity

The Knowledge & Content Management Specialist is an individual contributor responsible for executing and sustaining enterprise standards for knowledge and content management. This role ensures that organizational knowledge is accurate, compliant, well structured, and consistently governed throughout its lifecycle.

Working cross functionally with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal, IT, and business content owners, this role applies governance frameworks, monitors compliance, improves content quality, and enables effective knowledge sharing—without direct people management responsibility.

This role will be key to our success as we migrate to a new HCM (Human Capital Management) Platform & Technology. As part of this transition, we will be heavily focused on the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) within our HR tools to enable Employee & Manager Self-Service. This will drive a significant need for content review and creation of easily digestible and understandable content for our end users.

This role partners with policy and content owners in a consultative capacity, focusing on writing quality, tone, structure, and usability rather than serving as the subject‑matter expert. The role is responsible for authoring, editing, rewriting, and standardizing policies, SOPs, and knowledge articles for audiences including HR professionals, corporate and professional employees, and craft or field employees.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible.   Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge & Content Governance

  • Apply and maintain enterprise knowledge and content governance standards, including content creation, review, approval, publishing, archiving, and retirement.
  • Support defined ownership models by reinforcing expectations for content owners, approvers, and stewards.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for knowledge governance practices within assigned business areas (e.g., HR, Employee Relations, Shared Services).
  • Consult with policy owners and contributors to shape content, providing guidance on clarity, tone, structure, and standardization while preserving intended meaning.
  • Draft, rewrite, and edit policies, SOPs, and knowledge content to ensure consistency, readability, and alignment with governance standards.
  • Influence and gain buy in from contributors through partnership and expertise.

Compliance & Risk Support

  • Review content for alignment with internal policies, legal requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Data Governance teams to support risk mitigation related to knowledge and content management

Content Quality & Lifecycle Management

  • Conduct regular content audits to assess accuracy, relevance, and compliance with governance standards. Help maintain consistent taxonomy, naming conventions, and classification structures across repositories.
  • Coordinate content updates, consolidation, and retirement activities with content owners.
  • Ensure content is digestible and understandable to the relevant audience and end users.
  • Maintain documentation of governance standards, review schedules, and lifecycle rules.
  • Standardize document structure, formatting, and writing style to support a consistent employee experience.

Enablement & Adoption

  • Develop and maintain governance guidance, job aids, and reference materials for content contributors.
  • Educate stakeholders on governance expectations, roles, and best practices.
  • Promote adoption of sustainable knowledge management practices through influence and partnership.

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report on governance metrics such as content review compliance, accuracy, usage, and risk indicators.
  • Analyze trends and recommend opportunities for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in knowledge management, content governance, HR operations, shared services, or a related enterprise function.
  • Experience applying governance standards, quality controls, or lifecycle management practices.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and influence without formal authority.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following:
    • criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

  • Process driven and analytical thinking
  • Risk awareness and sound judgment
