The Opportunity

As a Lead FLNG Equipment Engineer, your role is to provide mentoring, leadership, and technical expertise in static, rotating, and other custom engineered equipment utilized in FLNG, LNG regasification, & Fertilizer (Ammonia & Urea) plants. Candidates are expected to have extensive technical experience and expertise related to the specification and procurement of custom engineered equipment packages including pressure vessels, shell & tube heat exchangers, compressors, and other heavy mechanical equipment packages specifically in the LNG and FLNG industries. Candidates shall exhibit deep code knowledge of ASME, API, and TEMA codes and shall be capable of simple and complex analyses related to the design, specification, and applications engineering tasks associated with equipment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as an equipment specialist to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer equipment suitable for LNG and FLNG applications. 
  • Select and implement appropriate designs for compressors, tanks, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, vaporizers, tanker loading arms, and other rotating/packaged equipment. 
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions. 
  • Utilize leading and current technologies in development of designs. 
  • Prepare equipment cost estimating and manhours for FEED and Detailed Design phases. 
  • Prepare static equipment data sheets and technical specifications for bid and purchase. 
  • Perform bid clarifications / meetings with bidders and prepare technical bid evaluations/summary for equipment. 
  • Review, interpret, and include client technical specifications in the bid & purchase specifications. 
  • Lead and coordinate meetings with internal disciplines, external consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors/fabricators across the globe. 
  • Participate in client project meetings. Conduct meetings and facilitate collaboration between US and India based design teams. 
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers in US and India to develop their technical skills. 
  • Ability to lead pre-inspection meetings, perform shop surveillance, attend inspections & testing on a variety of equipment type at vendor’s shop. 
  • Participate in design & model reviews, Hazop reviews, constructability review etc. 
  • Perform vendor drawing reviews. 
  • Develop construction subcontracts for static equipment and other mechanical equipment. 
  • Participate in onsite start-up and commissioning work on an as needed basis related to static equipment.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience. 
  • Experience working in FLNG, LNG, and gas processing projects 
  • Experience working in Ammonia, Urea, and Fertilizer plant projects 
  • Experience working in Hydrogen generation projects 
  • Experience in selecting and working with all types of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, boilers, etc. in oil & gas and chemical process and ammonia/urea/fertilizer industries. 
  • Experience in ASME Code (Section I, Section VIII Divisions 1 & 2) 
  • Experience in NBIC Code for pressure vessel repairs, alterations, and re-rates  
  • Experience in Stress Analysis (WRC 537 & ASME Section VIII Div. 2 FEA) 
  • Experience with ASME Section V and ASME Section IX  
  • Experience in AutoCAD drafting software for preparation of static equipment datasheets and detailed alteration drawings 
  • Experience with AWS welding standards and welding symbols 
  • Experience in reading detailed project drawings and blueprints and technical interpretations 
  • Experience with Compress Codeware Pressure Vessel Design Software 
  • Experience with Compress Codeware Inspect Condition Assessment Software 
  • Experience with HTRI Software for Heat Exchanger Design (Shell & Tube, Plate, Air Cooled)  
  • Experience in heat exchanger troubleshooting and small services engineering projects 
  • Experience in purchasing equipment to AWWA D100, API 582, 620, 650, 660, 662, 938, 941, standards. 
  • Experience in cryogenic storage (API-620/625 tanks, spherical storage), LNG, Ethylene, Hydrogen, LPG 
  • Experience with equipment inspection and general condition engineering assessment projects per API 510, 571, 579, 580, 581, 653 
  • Experience is specifying equipment for NACE service and can interpret NACE MR 0175 & NACE MR 0103 standards. 
  • Experience in attending and performing engineered equipment shop inspections of static equipment 
  • Experience in writing Static Equipment ASME Code and API overlay specifications 
  • Experience in material and component selection for static equipment. 
  • Experience with working on projects from early conceptual to detailed engineering and on to project start-up and operations support. 
  • Experience in the role of Lead Equipment Engineer on large FLNG projects.  
  • Have mentoring skills and work with and encourage junior staff. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Experience to handle multiple jobs/projects on a weekly basis 
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills; self-paced 
  • Experience in the role of Mechanical Lead Equipment Engineer on projects. 
  • Experience in equipment installation, commissioning, & start-up support at site. 
  • Experience in working in offshore fixed platform and floating vessel projects. 
  • Experience in workshare with India and other country offices globally.
