Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering.

 

This position is accountable for construction operations and success of project execution in US market.  Single source accountability for construction in all market sectors.  Group Managers and industry-specific Construction Operations Managers report into this position.

  • Ability to fill in at a Group Manager or Operations Manager as needed at the sector level to ensure project success.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA/Graduate Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and involvement in talent management and succession planning strategies for their organization that have successfully addressed key leadership and organizational development needs – in particular, an ability to attract key leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Human Resources and Employee Relations, Industrial Relations and Labor Relations in a construction, direct-hire environment.
  • An understanding of the relationship management and sales processes that translate to success in key markets and segments, particularly as they relate to capturing, planning and executing on projects won as a primary or subcontractor in North America.
  • Significant and specific experience in pursuits as a primary contractor in a competitive bid environment.
  • A track record of building strong, effective teams (attracting, developing, and retaining talent) of people with complementary skills and capabilities that deliver the required results.
  • An ability to communicate with and lead a workforce that runs the spectrum from highly technical and field-based professionals including craft to senior leaders.
  • An ability to proactively address and prioritize performance issues involving business results, projects, and people.
  • An ability to establish and maintain key external relationships, e.g., owners, developers, general contractors, partners, suppliers, consultants, and government agencies.
  • Demonstrated and clearly visible collaborative problem-solving skills along with a proven track record of building and maintaining a team-oriented culture.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Power Generation, Transmission, Water, Oil & Gas, and Telecom Markets.
  • An ability to assess markets, identify acquisition targets and, to the extent required, manage relevant elements of the integration processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15+ years related construction operations-related leadership experience in open shop and union settings and coming from a leading and preferably global EPC firm. 
  • 10 of these years should include demonstrated / hands-on experience in field-based project management, problem resolution, contract document interpretation, claims avoidance, contract negotiations, scheduling and cost controls.
  • Running a larger construction organization with +1,000 employees.
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience.
